The challenges posed by the transition to renewable energies require the specialists and managers of the future to adopt new approaches on both the managerial and the technical level. The programme equips students with a broad knowledge of hydrogen applications and the management of sustainable technologies for use in the field of regenerative energy carriers, and thus opens up interesting career opportunities.
Most of the teaching takes place on our campus in G?ppingen. Some lab work and certain electives take place in Esslingen.
The subject matter taught in the Master programme combines the skills from a range of disciplines:
Engineering & product management
Electrochemistry, process thermodynamics and technology
Management and law.
In their mandatory electives and research project, students can choose their own individual specialisations, for example:
Production/Manufacturing engineering and energy management
System development for applications in stationary and mobile systems
Business management - finance and financial control
Entrepreneurship and sustainability.
Students are taught scientific working practices and how to apply the latest engineering methods as part of research projects. These are undertaken in industrial companies or at the Institute for Sustainable Energy Technology and Mobility (INEM) at Esslingen.

? Developing products, processes and production relating to the utilisation of hydrogen – you can develop innovative technologies until they are commercially viable and practicable, and facilitate the use of new technologies in manufacture and production.
? Technology management and regulatory frameworks – you can identify, apply and improve legal frameworks to promote the utilisation of hydrogen and take account of changed framework conditions in relation to practicability and acceptance as part of the technological transition.
? Sustainability and the circular economy – you can compile assessments (LCA) and optimisations with a view to sustainability and material-efficient production and utilisation.

Is it possible to take the programme on a part-time basis?
No. The Hydrogen Economy and Technology Management degree programme is a full-time continuation Master programme which must be completed within five semesters at most.
Which criteria do I have to fulfil to be admitted?
You must show you have successfully completed a degree in engineering or engineering management with 210 ECTS credits. If the degree awards less than 210 ECTS credits, the difference must be made up during the Master programme. We recommend that applicants already have some knowledge of thermodynamics, electrical engineering, general chemistry, process engineering and energy management, and have attended application-oriented lectures on norms/standards or plant/process equipment construction.
