Honorary Professors
The Hochschule Esslingen has honoured the following long-standing lecturers, who have rendered outstanding services to the former Faculty of Automotive Engineering, by awarding them the title of Honorary Professor (in alphabetical order):
Prof. Dr. rer. pol. Eike B?hm
Since 2000 part-time lecturer for the subjects 'Global Engineering' and 'Fundamentals of Commercial Vehicle Development'. Member of the Automotive Industry Advisory Board and Vice President Quality Management Mercedes-Benz Cars Division at Daimler AG until 2014.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. h.c. Helmuth Bott ?
was a part-time lecturer for the industrial seminar since summer semester 1979. Former member of the Executive Board for Research and Development of Dr.-Ing.h.c.F. Porsche AG.
Prof. Dipl.-Des. Klaus Frenzel
has been teaching design at the Faculty of Automotive Engineering at Esslingen University of Applied Sciences since 1994 and is responsible for the strategic design of all Mercedes and Smart passenger cars at Daimler AG.
Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Peter Groth
since 1976 part-time lecturer for 'Finite Element Method' (FEM). Co-founder of the company T-Programm GmbH and since 1995 self-employed engineer within the engineering partnership Peter Groth/Helmut Faiss (IGF).
Prof. Dipl.-Ing. Dietrich Koppenh?fer
has been a part-time lecturer for combustion engines and design at the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences since the winter semester of 1979. Formerly Head of Commercial Vehicle Engine Design at Mercedes-Benz AG, Stuttgart.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Alfred Neher
since 1985 part-time lecturer at the Hochschule Esslingen in the field of vehicle technology service (FASE). Formerly with Mercedes Benz AG and today owner of Star Cooperation GmbH, B?blingen.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ferdinand Panik
has been teaching control engineering and innovative vehicle concepts at the Esslingen University of Applied Sciences since 1985. During his time as head of development at MB do Brasil, he supervised many diploma theses. Formerly head of the Fuel Cell Project House at DaimlerChrysler AG.
Prof. Dipl.-Ing Reinhard Schwartz
since 1981 as part-time lecturer for diesel injection and working methodology at the Hochschule Esslingen. Chairman of the steering group for the teaching reports of the departments. Former Director of Development Diesel Injection at Robert Bosch GmbH.
Prof. Dr.-Ing. Harald Wilken
since winter semester 1979 part-time lecturer for automotive cooling systems and project management. Formerly Managing Director of Behr GmbH u. Co., Stuttgart.
